It is Sunday and I am going to have a relaxing day as Susan. I started getting ready at noon as I have no real plans other than laundry, some house cleaning and yes cleaning the kitchen. Now years ago before I started going out and only dressed at home, I would do housework as Susan but now days I really want to go out when I am Susan and I leave the housework to my male self but today I thought why not and as a reward Susan will get to go to Starbucks for a little while. I was all ready by a little after 1 and then the work started. Put my first load of laundry in the wash and did some light vacuuming, yes, I didn’t want to work too hard as I didn’t want to sweat as that is something Susan doesn’t like. I finished that and cleaned the kitchen and got my second load of laundry going. Now this may seem boring and it is but I always talk about going shopping and being able to do that normal daily activity makes me feel Susan is a part of my daily life I figured I should also do some work. It was a little after 3 and I decided to take a break and go to the Starbuck near my house.

I got to Starbucks and went in and yes, they were busy inside but there were 2 small tables along the window open so I set my computer on one and went and ordered my drink. I started my computer and it was good I got this table as I had forgot to plug in my computer last night when I got home and the battery was almost dead. Now I worked on my blog from Saturday which I will post later tonight and then just spent some time on my computer which is probably what I would have done at home. Now as I typed I could see my nails and yes, they do have a definite pinkish tint to them and yes, I love the look of them but am very aware people who look at my nails will know I have polish on them and this got me thinking. Why do I like this so much, how can how I dress make me feel so good? It really makes no sense as yes as I sit here and can see my nails and my ring on my figure but that is it. I can’t see my makeup and I really am not paying attention to my clothes. I spent a little time thinking about that and what makes me who I am.

As long as I can remember I have loved makeup and the way it look on woman and how it can enhance or even change how they look. For me just thinking about doing my makeup or getting my nails done gives me a calming feeling. I have had my toenails painted for probably 16+ years and really no one sees them especially during the winter. I get up in the morning and take my shower and yes at that point I can see the pretty color and then I put on socks and shoes and they are covered up till I get ready for bed at night and remove my socks and I always thought why do I paint them but it comes back to that calming feeling. Even though I can’t see them I know they look pretty and that has the same effect on me. I think that is why I have been keeping my fingernails so nice the last few years and why when Anna put the clear pink on yesterday, I didn’t stop her as for me it will be a visual reminder of Susan. yes, other people will see it and know I have polish on but I am guessing they won’t say anything as it is a very subtle shade. I imagine if I walked in with a bright red or hot pink there would be at least some questions.

As I sat here thinking about it, I started wondering who decided what was feminine attire. Looking back through history men use to wear eye liner, heels and yes even corsets. It is only in the modern (enlightened) times that this has changed. Now I will admit women in general look better wearing this stuff then your average man but still why does society look different on this. I got thinking about where I work and I would say 1/3 or more of the men have pierced ears including me now but the difference is the men wear a simple stud and the women can wear hoops or dangly earrings. A couple of the males wear nail polish and no one thinks anything about it but it is black polish they wear and their nails are just trimmed neatly not shaped nicely or long where woman can have long perfectly shaped nails in all the bright pretty colors. Now of course this is a change as 10 years ago I didn’t work with any males who wore nail polish and very few of the men had pierced ears so there is hope going forward.

Now I know a few of our girls in the group have nice nails, Julie has had beautiful perfectly shaped nails with dipping powder on them in a pale pink shade for a few years and has had no problems. Jan actually has a full set of acrylic nails almost ¼ long with some pretty bright colors and no problems. At dinner the other night Claire was talking about getting her nails done in lighter colors and not worrying what people think and of course I have nice nails also that are now a pretty see-through pink and we all live part of our lives as males. I think the more we and others do this it will become more common and acceptable. It is the same reason I like to go out and why we do the dinners. The more we are out and interacting with people the more common it will become for them to see a transgender person out and see we really are no different from them.

Early on I always viewed this side of me as a private part of who I was, something I did for me and it really is but I have also come to learn it is also something I do to introduce other people to transgender people and with that comes a little more responsibility as I realize how I act and come across to people when I am out on Susan will help form their opinion of transgender people so I need to set a good example. Now I am not saying we shouldn’t go out and have a good time but we do need to be aware that people are watching us and forming opinions good or bad. It goes back to that question what do you remember and most people can go someplace like a restaurant and have 10 good experiences and if they have 1 bad one that is what they tend to remember. I have gone to so many nails salons over the years and always been treated wonderful and almost always they do a wonderful job but in reality, I can remember 3 of them really well. Dream nails where I go as Susan and have gone many time. Julies nails where I was going as my male self last year and one, I won’t mention the name but I went to this one probably 20 years ago to get a set of acrylics removed and when I thought they were going to trim them down to soak them off the lady just started snapping them off my nails, I never went back to that salon and still remember it. It is a fact of life as we tend to remember bad more than good so if we do go out and give 10 positive interactions with people and 1 bad one unfortunately what they will remember is the bad one so we really do need to be aware how we act when out.

On the good side we really are important as we are each an ambassador for the transgender community and we are what is shaping peoples views and helping transgender people become more accepted and maybe in a few years we will just be viewed as just another person out and we won’t need the title transgender. I guess what I am saying is be respectful of others and we will be respected. Now I stayed at Starbucks till about 6 before going home to make dinner.

If you read my blog from yesterday you saw my nails but the color really doesn’t show up so I found this picture online, not my nails but this is the color of my nails. Now I do have a thinner layer of acrylic so more natural looking and a lot shorter of course over the next 3 weeks they will grow out and look more like this picture, of course to get this long would take 3 to 4 months. Sorry this is a little longer of a blog.

Well first we have 16 cabins booked and 26 people going so far on our Mexican Cruise in October of 2018. Also Last Sunday I did make it out as Susan to Starbucks for a couple hours to write my last blog, now onto today.

I had planned to get out early, get my nails done and then go meet Cassandra at the Escape to watch the Baseball playoffs but as usual things came up and I got a late start. I didn’t get home till 4 so it would be a rush today. I called the Dream Nails to see if I could get in to get my nails done and so there would be no confusion I asked for Anna. Well it turns out she is on vacation so I just asked if I could come in at 5 and I would be surprised who gets to do my nails, so far everyone that I have had do my nails have done a wonderful job. Now it was a rush to get ready and of course the hardest part, what to wear. Something casual enough to go to the nail salon but also nice enough for a Saturday night out. I went with a skirt and top and I wore my ankle boots to the nail salon and took some nice heels to change into after. I was all ready and on my way by 4:40 well almost. I got to the end of my street and realized I forgot my bracelets and ring so I turned around and ran home real fast.

I got to the nail salon at 4:45 yes, it is a short drive and went in, they were not busy at all only one other lady there. Cathy greeted me when I walked in and said she was ready so I sat right down, Cathy has done my nails before. I sat down and Cathy started on my nails and of course we talked a little, she asked me if I had a boyfriend? I just told her I wasn’t looking for a boyfriend and left it at that, I didn’t go into the fact I am not interested in men, just woman. I really do enjoy my time at the nail salon. Now I have always wondered what they think of me here and by that do they think I am full time. Well as Cathy worked on my nails she asked what color I would like and I just told her the clear pink I have been getting. She asked if I didn’t like color and I told her I would love color but it just wouldn’t work at work, that was why I only got color polish when I was on Vacation. She then asked in they didn’t allow color polish where I work so I went on and told her I only dress this way part time and at work I am male and it would be hard to explain color on my nails.

Cathy finished filling my nails with acrylic, shaping them and filing them smooth then told me to go wash my hands. I came back and sat down and Cathy had a different polish on her table and said she wanted to try a different color as the one I was wearing gets a little yellowish after a couple weeks. I looked at it and it did have a pink color to it so I told her I would try it on my pinky like I did a few times back. Cathy smiled at me and said no it would look fine on my nails and I don’t know why I just agreed. She started with my right hand and as I watched the color on from the bottle was pink but it didn’t look pink on my nails so I just let her go. She finished the first coat and for the second coat it was more of a clear color with a pink color to it. After the second coat she put a clear top coat on. I looked at my nails and it did look like I had a light polish on it and gave my nails a healthy natural look. Cathy asked me how I liked it and I said it looked nice, she told me if I didn’t like it she would remove it and redo it but I told her it was fie I liked it which I do just not sure when I am not Susan what people will think. Now I have had nicely manicured nails a little on the long side for months and have left them shinny for the last month and only one lady at work have said anything so either they haven’t noticed which I doubt or just haven’t said anything. I thanked Cathy as she did a wonderful job on my nails, and left with my pretty nails. By the way they look a little different depending on the light and in certain light they are pink. I will include some pictures in different light.

It was about 5:30 when I left the nail salon and drove to the Escape. I got a parking spot right in front which was lucky as we can no longer park across the street in the parking lot. I went in and Cassandra was already there, she got there about 5 to watch the Baseball playoffs, she is a huge LA Dodgers fan. It is funny as we have several girls in the group how are huge sports fan. We also talked about some of our events coming up, we do have 15 signed up for the Dinner Cruise we are doing in December which will be so much fun and of course our cruise next October, as I said above we have 26 signed up for this so far, and probably 15 are from our group. If you want information on it check out our group cruise page. Our group really is wonderful and we have done so many wonderful things over the years. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without some of them in my life. I would not be the lady I am now without them. Now talking about the cruise and what we would do. We are thinking of going down a few days early and going out in LA first. I also realize I need to get a passport which I should do soon as I don’t want to wait.

Now Michelle was the next one to show up and then Page, Kimberly, and Kate, Kimberly and Kate also got in the conversation on the cruise as they are also going. Now some of the girls started playing pool as the Baseball game was over. Cassandra was happy as the Dodgers won. Cassandra was the big winner at Pool as she won a lot of games of course she is also really good so if you can beat her it is an accomplishment.

Karaoke started and as always it gets a little loud and hard to talk any more. It is fun to listen to some of the singers as some are really good and the other well they at least have the courage to get up and sing and that is something. Lori and a few other girls showed up, our later crowd. It is funny as when o first started going out it had to be dark and most of the time it was 9 pm or later before I would leave my house, now by 9 pm. Now by 9 or 10 I am thinking about going home to bed. I like to think it is because I am so comfortable going out and not because I am getting older.

We had a good turnout and it was great to be out with my friends. I am looking forward to Wednesday night dinner as I am planning on going this week. Next Saturday is the week the group goes down to Salem to hang out with our members down there. I am not sure I will make that as it is an hour drive each way or more. I will go out though even if it is just shopping or a trip to Starbucks.

It is Saturday and our group the Rose City T-girls are getting together for dinner at Henry’s Tavern in downtown Portland. It is a wonderful way to spend an evening and can have friendly conversation so I was really looking forward to it as I have not gotten

out much the last few months. Our reservation was 7:15 but I knew Peggy and Cassandra were planning on being there by 6:30 so that was my goal also. I started getting ready about 4:30. I also had some new lipstick I was looking to try. I have tried the Mauve before and it seems to work really well but tonight I wanted to try the red. The Mauve stayed on really well just a slight wear on the inside of the lip, the one thing I don’t like about this lipstick is it does take a while to dry but it stays on really well, even olive oil and soap didn’t take it off. I had to use baby oil. But tonight, was the red. I was done with my makeup and getting dressed by 5:45 and I noticed my neighbors across the street were all out in the street playing basketball with their 3 kids and some friends. I am not sure if they know about me yet. By the time I was dressed and ready to leave it was just the husband and his friend standing by the street talking. It was time to leave so pulled out of the garage and left not really looking at them.

I got downtown just before 6 and I knew it would be pure luck to find parking on the street so I just went to the parking garage as it is only a block away. I was almost to Henry’s when Cassandra and Peggy came around the corner, Peggy got out while Cassandra went to park so we walked in together. It was great to see Peggy again, I have really enjoy talking with her and by the way she had beautiful long red nails tonight. We went into the bar and got a couple tables as we waited for Cassandra and others to show up.

Laura and Max were the first to arrive followed by Kate, Melissa and her wife, Karen, Kearren, and Julie. It was great to see all of them and have a nice group for dinner. We had about 45 minutes to talk as we waited for our table which was nice. Our table was finally ready and we all walked through the crowd to our table. I sat between Peggy and Julie and Max & Laura were right across from me. It was about 7:30 when Cassi showed up so we had 12 in all.

Now I had to decide on dinner and I narrowed it down to a steak or their mac & cheese with chicken both of which are wonderful. With no way to decide I did the only thing I could. I checked out the dessert menu to see if I would be having dessert, of course I knew the answer before I looked. With my dessert picked out I went with the mac and cheese as I figured that wouldn’t be as much to eat.

Now we sat around and talked for a while as we waited for our food. Some of the conversation was on our Cruise next year which we are looking forward to and as 7 of us here tonight are already booked it seemed like a good topic. We also talked about our dinner and Harvey’s Comedy club which has opened again. We always went to Harvey’s the first Saturday of the month for years and it was fun, when they closed in early summer we started doing a nice dinner on that night and we have dinners scheduled through the first of the year so I think in February we will look at it and I think we will try to get Harvey’s back in the rotation. I think we are liking going to places other than just bars, now there is nothing wrong with going to a bar but our group has gone to bars for almost 10 years at least once or twice a week and early on that was really the only place we would go several times a week. I think we are enjoying expanding our world plus I think it is good to go places where we can interact with more people. One reason I am really looking forward to our Cruise. Our dinner in November I will not be able to make but I am looking forward to our December dinner, we are doing a dinner cruise on the Portland Spirit. This is something I have always wanted to do and I am going to get to do it as Susan. Cassandra got us a group rate so it really is not that bad. $70 per person includes dinner, non-alcohol drinks, 2 ½ hour cruise and tip. We have 14 signed up now, we need 15 to get that rate but I think we can get one more as we have two months. Cassandra does have to put up a $500 nonrefundable deposit so hopefully everyone shows up.

Our group is really active and we have done some really fun things over the years. If you are in Portland (or come here on a regular basis check out our group and join, you will be glad you did but even if you don’t join you can always join us when we go out just contact us. Now we did get some good pictures tonight. This is how my makeup turned out tonight.

The food was wonderful as always yes our group has come here several times over the years and always had a great time and been treated wonderful. After dinner it was time for dessert and I ordered the Mud Pie brownie Sunday, well a half of one. Peggy said she would have a bight or two so I figured a half would be big enough. Wow it was huge, two big pieces of Brownie in a big pile of ice cream. Even with Peggy having a few bites I couldn’t finish it all. Julie got the same and shared hers with Melissa and her wife. A tip if you come here which you should, share a dessert, the half is enough for two. Peggy and Cassandra were the first to leave as they had to get up early tomorrow which I totally understand. Karen also left it was good to see her but I wish I could have talked with her more.

The rest of us stayed a little later talking and yes Peggy and Cassandra are doing a Halloween party again this year, they have such great parties and Peggy puts so much work into decorating for it. I am going but not sure what I will do for a costume. I have been so busy with other things in my life that Susan couldn’t get out and now I am not sure I have time to find a costume. I may just recycle one of my old costumes or just maybe go without a costume this year. Will have to see. Here are some of the years past 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009. We are all looking forward to it.

Okay I also have to post a picture of Julie and me as she said I could. I never post pictures of other people without their permission, I think that is just a good rule and I respect their choices just as I would want them to respect mine. I am not even sure when we left but I am guessing it was after 10. I got to the parking garage and there was a young lady there who was lost, you see this parking garage is huge and covers several blocks underground. She asked me if I knew where the entrance was by whole food and I really don’t know down town very well but I showed her the pay station where you can push a button and talk with someone in hopes they could help her. That is always a fear I have of going someplace and then not remembering where I parked.

 I got home and washed my makeup off well at least everything but the lipstick as that did not come off and looked just as good as when I put it on accept on the inner parts of my lips. In the morning I got up and had breakfast and then used some baby oil to take it off well almost. Seems the red sticks a little better especially on the lip line and just outside the lip line. I was a little worried now as I had used 2 cotton balls soaked with baby oil and it still looked like I had lip liner on. My next step was a shower and I used a washcloth with a lot of soap and muscle power, yes I exfoliated my lips to the max but I got it all off. My lips are the softest they have ever been. I will say this lipstick stays on really well.

Friday night out for dinner

It has been a long time since I have been out on a Friday night and I was trying to decide if I should go out as it would be later when I could make it. Any way Julie texted me to see if I was going out as she also wanted to go out but like me it would be later. We decided to go out to Crush Bar, Julie stopped here last week in boy mode to check it out. I was looking forward to it. I was going to Pick Julie up at 7:30 and drive together. I started getting ready about 5:30 and took my time as I wanted to enjoy the experience. I really do love the time I spend doing my makeup. I was all ready by 7 in my black skirt and sweater top and on my way.

I got to Julies about 7:30 and she had just finished getting ready, she also wore a skirt and top. We talked for a few minutes before we left. We got to Crush just before 8 and being a Friday, we had to park about 4 blocks away, good thing it was a nice evening. Now being a Friday night, they were pretty busy but we did find a table. We went to the bar and ordered dinner. They also had a Burlesque show in the back room and there were a lot of girls in really cute outfits. Now this bar is an LGBT bar but really open to everyone and there was a good mix of all people which was nice. More of a neighborhood bar and it is nice to have a good mix of people all accepting of each other.

Julie and I had a nice dinner and wonderful conversation, it really is nice to spend time with Julie, we spent a lot of time talking about our group and of course the Cruise we are doing in October of 2018. If you have ever thought of going on a Cruise and want to do it as transgender here is your chance. We have at least 15 staterooms booked with 23 going so far. It will be so much fun. It is funny as Susan I really enjoy just sitting around and having enjoyable conversation. I should have gotten a picture with Julie. It was getting late after 10 pm and we were thinking of leaving when a lady that was sitting at the bar came over and joined us, she introduced herself as Caroline. She just moved to Portland two weeks ago and she was here with her friend Alvin who also came over and joined us. They were really nice and we had a lot of fun talking with them and getting to know them. It really is nice to meet new people. Julie and I ended up staying for more than an hour more talking with them. It was a really a fun night.

It was almost 11:30 when Julie and I left and walked back to my car. Crush was really a nice place and we would both go back again. The only bad thing is being a neighborhood bar there are not a lot of street lights on the side streets so kind of dark when walking. I drove Julie home and then headed home myself. It was a really wonderful night out.

Now I am looking forward to Saturday night as our group is going to dinner at Henry’s in downtown Portland. Not sure how many we will have I am guessing 8 to 10 but I know Julie, Cassandra and Peggy will be there and it will be so wonderful to see them again. I really do have wonderful friend.

Sunday at Starbucks

Okay, I had a few hours on Sunday afternoon and I was going to write my blog from Saturday evening out so I decided to go to Starbucks for a couple hours as Susan. I got to Starbuck’s about 2:30 and they were not that busy. It was nice just to be out again. I got a drink and sat down with my computer to write my blog and check my e-mail. Now as always people come in and get drinks but most got them to go. While I was there and I think that it ranged from 3 to 8 other people sitting at tables during that time. Spending time at Starbucks is relaxing and a great way to catch, I have always enjoyed this type of outing.
I think it was in 2009 that I started going to Starbucks as a way to get out more. I was looking at my blogs and I have 148 blogs about going to Starbuck’s. It is funny as I had never been in a Starbuck’s till that first time Susan decided to go. It was a short outing today and what I would call a pretty everyday type outing. It is nice to just be out doing everyday things that any woman would do or go.
I was there till about 5:30 before I headed home. It was a relaxing outing.
Okay here is an update on the cruise, we have 23 people (15 cabins) booked of which at least 10 are from our group, the rest from other groups. Although this is being arranged by our group it is open to everyone, see information below.

Since we will be on International Waters, we have already worked out bathroom issues, boarding and unboarding, and checking in as girls. Also, we have also worked out all details for tours that are set up through Princess Cruises so that we have no issues while in Mexico.  It’s all GOOD!

starting to gbet out more

Well the last few months it has been hard to get out or even do anything with my blogs, as you can see from the date of my last blog here. most of my blogging has been on my main blog. I am going to see if I can get my blog writing program to also upload to this blog.
